Ivan Franko National University of Lviv is a classical university in Ukraine with a longstanding academic tradition and values, which secures the labor market with about 23,000 highly qualified competitively viable specialists.
There are 22 565 university students in 2022, so it proves that the institution is not only competitively viable but also popular among applicants.
One of the important University’s tasks is to fully provide students with places of residence. As approved by the Order of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv’s Rector on Student Dormitories and on the Campus Regulations, there are 10 dormitories, which form a campus where residents of other cities can live (as well as children deprived of parental care who are residents of other cities), postgraduates, applicants, foreigners, guests, and our university invitees.
As a result of the war, many citizens became internally displaced persons (IDP), including many students or applicants. That’s why this year Lviv university will be an even higher priority target for future students from different regions of Ukraine. Thus, we note that the housing requirements for these people are growing.
Currently, 4,681 students live in the university dormitories. An additional 1,200 places are needed. It is important to note that due to the current circumstances 1927 IDPs now are living in the dormitories of the University, so this need will grow day by day.
In 2018, the construction of one more dormitory at Pasichna Street, 62 in Lviv began, which according to the current project has 400 places exclusively for students. In 2021, with the support of the President of Ukraine, funds in the amount of UAH 44 million were allocated, but currently, the construction is suspended due to a lack of funds. UAH 103 million is a necessary sum of money to complete building and construction works.
We kindly note that the purpose of the earliest restoration and completion of construction is primarily the need for housing for internally displaced students or applicants.
